BIO -

I qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2004, working for the NHS prior to that and for twenty years in total, before setting up my independent Occupational Therapy practice, OT Works in 2019.

I have worked as an Occupational Therapist for Health and Social Care within Learning Disabilities, Adult Mental Health, and Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services. Since moving into independent practice, I have provided clinical work into schools, outside spaces, and virtually. I currently run a weekly hall-based Sensory Integration Therapy ‘clinic’ in Herne Bay. I adapt and respond flexibly to changing needs and I am skilled at engaging with people with a range of complex presentations.

I am registered with the Health Professional Council and I am a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, and the Sensory Integration Network. I am an advanced Sensory Integration Practitioner, holding a Post Graduate Diploma in Sensory Integration. I am pursuing a Masters Degree in this field of study and I am passionate about this play-based child-led therapy approach, which I often adapt with my adolescent and adult clients to a playful, leisure activities approach.

I am a certified provider of specialist interventions such as Astronaut training a Sound Activated Vestibular-Visual Protocol, and Building Blocks for Sensory Integration which addresses primitive reflexes. I regularly undertake a range of training to support my continued professional development.

I have a personal and professional interest in the needs of young people with attachment issues, and I have worked as a fostering panel member. I believe in interest-based learning and I have worked as SEND lead at a self-directed democratic community for home educated children. I enjoy spending time with my family, swimming, being in nature and looking after my hens!
